What the check asks about
The 25 questions are split into five areas. You answer each one with what you know about your own website. You don’t need to open any settings or log in anywhere.
Clarity & Trust
Can a first-time visitor tell within a few seconds what you do and where you work? The questions cover your homepage headline, real photos, a visible address or service area, reviews, and signs that the site is still looked after, like a current copyright year or news that isn’t three years old.
Mobile & Usability
On housesitter.ie, 75 of 86 Google clicks in four weeks came from a phone. This part asks whether text is readable without zooming, whether buttons and the menu are easy to tap, and whether pages load quickly on mobile data.
Contact & Conversion
If your website gets visitors but no enquiries, start here. You check whether your phone number can be tapped to call, whether your contact form works and the messages actually reach you, and whether each page tells the visitor what to do next.
SEO & Visibility Basics
These are the basics, not an SEO audit. Does your site show up when you search for your business name? Do your page titles say what you offer and where? Does your Google Business Profile link to your website, and does each main service have its own page?
Security & Maintenance
HTTPS on every page, WordPress and plugin updates, backups you could actually restore, and a person who is responsible when the site goes down. If you don’t know the answer to one of these questions, the check counts that as something to look at.
Who the check is for
Small business owners who have a website, didn’t build it themselves, and aren’t sure whether it’s doing its job. It also helps if you’re about to pay someone to redesign or fix your site and want to know first where the real problems are.
What you get at the end
An overall score, a score for each of the five areas, and your answers sorted into three lists: fix first, fix next, and working well. You can download the results as a PDF and use it yourself or pass it on to whoever looks after your website.

How long does it take?
About 5 minutes.
Do I need to give anyone access to my website?
No. The check is based on your answers only. Nobody logs in to your site and nothing is installed.
Do I need to enter my email address?
No. There’s no account and no email field.
What if my score is low?
Then you have a list of what to fix first. Some points, like a phone number that can’t be tapped or an outdated footer, take minutes. If you’d rather have someone look at the actual website, the Small Website Improvement Review covers that.
How is this different from the Improvement Review?
