WordPress Website Maintenance in Ireland

Your website should keep working while you run your business. OTTA provides WordPress website maintenance Ireland-wide for small businesses, including websites hosted with another provider. Updates, checks and backups are handled on a defined schedule, with clear responsibilities agreed in writing before maintenance begins.

Maintenance for externally hosted WordPress websites: €59 per month or €590 per year. Websites hosted with OTTA can choose Managed WordPress Hosting & Care for €69 per month, which includes hosting and routine maintenance. OTTA is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.

What Happens When Nobody Looks After a Website?

Most website problems do not start with a crash. They build up quietly while the homepage still looks fine, and you often find out from a customer, or when you need the website most.

Enquiries go missing

A contact form stops sending emails after an update, and nobody notices for weeks. Every lost enquiry is a customer who went somewhere else.

Outdated plugins invite attacks

Automated bots constantly scan WordPress websites for known weaknesses. Plugins that are not updated are one of the most common ways in.

No usable backup

Backups only help if they exist when you need them and can actually be restored. Many owners only find out after something has gone wrong.

Hidden errors

PHP errors, failed updates or expiring certificates can sit in the background long before visitors see a broken page or a security warning.

Regular maintenance is about catching these things early, so you can focus on your business instead of your website.

Maintenance With or Without OTTA Hosting

You do not need to move your website to receive maintenance. Choose the option that fits your current setup.

Who This Maintenance Is For

OTTA maintenance is designed for small business WordPress websites that need to keep working reliably, without a large agency package.

A good fit if

  • Your website brings in enquiries, bookings or calls
  • You do not want to deal with updates, backups and security yourself
  • You want one clear person responsible for the technical side
  • Your website is a brochure-style site or a small business website

Probably not the right fit if

  • You need daily content changes or ongoing marketing
  • You run a large online shop that needs constant development
  • Your website is not built with WordPress
  • You need guaranteed out-of-hours emergency support

Access Needed for an Externally Hosted Website

To maintain a website hosted elsewhere, OTTA needs suitable access to the website and, where relevant, to the hosting account. The exact access is agreed during the initial review.

  • A WordPress administrator account for OTTA
  • Access to the hosting control panel or SFTP
  • Access to the hosting provider’s backup and restore tools
  • Licence details for paid plugins or themes
  • DNS access only where it is needed for agreed work
  • A named contact for decisions and approvals

Before regular maintenance starts, OTTA reviews the website’s current state, plugins, backups and hosting setup. Websites with significant existing problems may need one-off repair work first, which is discussed and priced separately.

What OTTA Is and Is Not Responsible For

When your website is hosted with another provider, some parts of the system remain outside OTTA’s control. These limits are set out in writing before maintenance begins, so both sides know who handles what.

OTTA is responsible for

  • Agreed WordPress updates and checks
  • Reporting problems found during maintenance
  • Initial investigation of WordPress faults
  • Working within the access provided

Remains with the hosting provider or owner

  • Server availability, performance and hosting outages
  • The hosting provider’s own backups and their reliability
  • Hosting account, billing and domain renewals
  • Faults in third-party plugins or services
  • Malware removal, major repairs and new features, unless agreed

Website Maintenance FAQ

Do I need to move my website to OTTA hosting?

No. OTTA can maintain WordPress websites that stay with their current hosting provider for €59 per month. Moving to Managed WordPress Hosting & Care is an option, not a requirement.

What is the difference between the two options?

With external hosting, OTTA maintains WordPress while the server stays the responsibility of your hosting provider. With Managed Hosting & Care, hosting and maintenance are handled together, with one technical point of responsibility and faster support.

What happens if an update breaks something?

Checks are carried out after important updates, and backups are confirmed before updating. If an update causes a problem, OTTA investigates and reports what was found. Larger repairs are discussed before any extra work is done.

Is malware removal included?

Regular updates and monitoring reduce the risk, but cleaning up a hacked website is separate work unless agreed otherwise. See website security basics for small businesses.

Is VAT added to the prices?

No. OTTA is not currently registered for VAT, so the prices shown are the prices you pay.
